The prompt

Design a compact underwater optical dissolved-oxygen sensor with four circular sacrificial hydrogel membrane layers arranged sequentially above the optical sensing window. The four sacrificial layers must be circular, thin, flat hydrogel membranes with the same central axis as the sensor. They should be stacked one above another with a very small visible interface or separation between consecutive layers, so that all four layers can be clearly distinguished. Layer 1 is the outermost sacrificial layer and is designed to detach first under water-flow shear. Layer 2 is underneath Layer 1 and should remain longer. Layer 3 should remain longer than Layer 2, and Layer 4 should be the innermost and longest-lasting sacrificial layer. Under the four sacrificial layers, include a central optical sensing window and a protected optical dissolved-oxygen sensor body. Include a transparent acrylic circular support structure around the membrane stack while keeping the optical sensing window uncovered by the support. Show the design in a clear 3D exploded/isometric view, with the four circular hydrogel layers separated slightly so their order and structure are visible. Label: Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3, Layer 4, Optical Sensing Window, Optical DO Sensor, and Acrylic Support. This is a preliminary conceptual and engineering design, not a final manufacturing design. The dimensions, membrane thicknesses, spacing, and exact geometry are provisional and will be refined after physical experiments measuring swelling, degradation, detachment, and lifetime of each layer. The final design will be based on the experimental results and the measured lifetime of the four layers
