The prompt

Task: This assessment task requires the student to use a computer-aided design (CAD) program to produce and plot basic 3-D view drawings. This includes: • Reading and interpreting engineering specifications. • Organising information. • Using computer and peripherals. • Using CAD program. • Saving 3-D modes in various file formats. • Preparing drawings in plane orthogonal, isometric projection or equivalent. To do so, you will be required to complete the following activities: • Activity 1: Confirm drawing requirements • Activity 2: Use computer-aided design (CAD) to create and display 3-D models Elements Create a 3-D environment on the screen for multiple viewings. Manipulate drawing planes and insert 3-D geometric shapes to create 3-D views on the screen. Draw on any plane of the three-dimensional view. When creating 3-D views, use editing functions to modify 3-D geometric shapes. Create isometric, perspective, and orthographic wire line, surface, and solid face displays. Determine the mass and surface area of a given solid model made of a specified material. Use basic rendering techniques to create a solid model that meets a set of criteria. Save the file in an appropriate format so that it can be retrieved and used in a CAD system. Save the file in other formats (e.g., DWG, DXF, PDF) so that it can be retrieved by other software applications.
