The prompt
Design a complete, manufacturable two-part mould box (a two-piece casting mould, with a cope and a drag) for casting a gear. Output the design as parametric CAD geometry with the modelling steps and dimensions a CAD engineer could follow to build it directly. The gear is the cavity the mould forms. Choose any gear design you consider appropriate (spur gear, with a sensible module, pressure angle of 20°, tooth count, face width, and bore), and make the gear and mould overall footprint no larger than 170 mm × 170 mm in plan view. Keep all dimensions within that limit, including the mould box walls, flanges, and any alignment features. Model the mould as two separate solid parts that mate precisely: - **Upper part (cope):** the top half of the box, containing the upper half of the gear cavity, a pouring sprue, and a vent. - **Lower part (drag):** the bottom half of the box, containing the lower half of the gear cavity, with matching registration features. - Include alignment pins and matching sockets (or dowel holes) so the two halves locate exactly when closed, plus a parting plane between them. - Add a wall thickness, draft angles on cavity faces for easy pattern removal, and a gate/runner from the sprue to the cavity. Deliver the output as a precise CAD description or script (for example, OpenSCAD or CadQuery code, or an explicit feature-by-feature build sequence) with every dimension stated in millimetres, the gear parameters listed, the overall bounding box confirmed under 170 mm × 170 mm, and a brief note on how the two halves assemble.
