The prompt
Build a simple functional 3D-printable step-powered generator from scratch. Create: - 180×140×8 mm base - 140×100×8 mm stepping plate above it - vertically moving rack plate connected to the stepping plate - straight rack, module 2 mm, 20° pressure angle, ~100 mm long - 20T input spur gear, module 2 mm, 20° pressure angle, 8 mm thick - interchangeable 20T, 30T and 40T output spur gears, same module/profile, 8 mm thick - two aligned 5–6 mm shafts - thick shaft-support blocks - simple generator mount - four corner attachment points for return springs/strings Mechanism: **stepping plate ↓ → rack ↓ → input gear rotates → output gear rotates → generator** Use external spur gears only. Calculate gear center distance correctly: **C = module × (Z1+Z2)/2**. Add ~0.3 mm gear backlash and sufficient shaft clearance. Output gears must be removable and interchangeable on the same shaft. Design specifically for FDM polyester, 0.4 mm nozzle, ~0.2 mm layers. Use strong teeth, ≥4 mm structural walls, simple geometry, minimal supports, no bearings, worm gears, planetary gears, or complicated mechanisms. Add mechanical travel stops. Ensure rack and gears mesh, shafts align, gears rotate freely, nothing collides, and every part is separately printable. Prioritize **simple, strong, functional, and easy to change gear ratios**.
