The prompt
Create a parametric CAD model of a simple rear drive axle for a small RC seed-sowing rover. Use millimetres as the unit system. Main dimensions Axle type: cylindrical steel shaft Nominal axle diameter: 12.7 mm Initial overall axle length: 300 mm Make the overall length fully parametric using a parameter named REAR_AXLE_LENGTH. Make the axle diameter parametric using REAR_AXLE_DIAMETER, initially 12.7 mm. Geometry Create one continuous cylindrical axle with two symmetric wheel-mounting regions, one at each end. The central section must remain a simple cylindrical shaft suitable for supporting the rover's rear wheels. Provide simple wheel-retaining/mounting regions at both ends, but do not assume a specific wheel interface. Do NOT add: differential gears chain drive complicated gearbox steering mechanism suspension unnecessary cosmetic details Wheel interface The exact wheel mounting method is not yet known. Therefore: Do not assume a keyway. Do not assume a D-flat. Do not assume a bolt pattern. Do not assume a specific wheel hub diameter. Instead, create simple cylindrical mounting regions at both ends and make the following dimensions parametric: WHEEL_MOUNT_DIAMETER = TBD WHEEL_MOUNT_LENGTH = TBD WHEEL_RETENTION_METHOD = TBD The wheel-mounting regions should be symmetric about the axle centerline. Important design requirements The axle must be perfectly straight. Both wheel mounting regions must be coaxial with the main axle. The left and right wheel mounting regions must be symmetric. Keep the geometry simple and manufacturable. Add small chamfers only where useful for assembly. Do not add unnecessary fillets or cosmetic features. The axle should be suitable for a student-built RC agricultural rover prototype. Parametric requirements Create named parameters for at least: REAR_AXLE_DIAMETER = 12.7 mm REAR_AXLE_LENGTH = 300 mm WHEEL_MOUNT_DIAMETER = TBD WHEEL_MOUNT_LENGTH = TBD WHEEL_MOUNT_OFFSET = TBD The model must update correctly when REAR_AXLE_LENGTH or REAR_AXLE_DIAMETER is changed. Create the axle as a separate CAD component/body, not as part of an assembly. The final geometry should represent a real mechanical axle rather than a visual/conceptual model.
