The prompt
PROJECT: Smart IoT-Based Modular Storage System for Smart Inventory Management and Replenishment Decision Support SOFTWARE: Onshape OBJECTIVE: Create a realistic, student-buildable 3D CAD assembly of a modular storage cabinet for organizing and monitoring Computer Engineering laboratory equipment and tools. OVERALL DIMENSIONS: - Initial cabinet width: 600 mm - Initial cabinet height: 800 mm - Initial cabinet depth: 300 mm - Material concept: plywood, acrylic, or lightweight aluminum framing - Structure: open-front cabinet with accessible storage compartments - Use millimeters for all dimensions. MODULAR STRUCTURE: - Create a rectangular outer frame. - Divide the front into 3 columns and 3 rows of storage compartments. - Use removable or repositionable dividers to allow compartment adjustment. - Design the frame so additional modules can be attached within defined size limits. - Add small sample bins for electronic components, cables, tools, and laboratory supplies. - Avoid complex sliding or automated mechanisms. ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS: 1. RFID reader positioned near the front access area. 2. RFID tags represented on selected item containers. 3. Load cells beneath selected storage bins or weighing platforms. 4. A small electronics enclosure for an ESP32 or compatible microcontroller. 5. A front-mounted LCD or OLED display. 6. Two or three status indicator LEDs. FUNCTIONAL DESIGN: - RFID identifies tagged items. - Load cells detect weight changes for applicable items. - The controller processes sensor readings. - Inventory status is updated by the system. - A predefined threshold triggers low-stock detection. - A mobile notification supports the user's replenishment decision. CAD REQUIREMENTS: - Model the outer frame, base, shelves, dividers, bins, and electronics enclosure as separate parts. - Assemble the parts using appropriate mates. - Make the modular dividers repositionable in the CAD assembly. - Include a front three-quarter view, front view, side view, and exploded assembly view. - Label the locations of the RFID reader, load cells, display, and controller enclosure. - Keep all dimensions practical for a student prototype. CONSTRAINTS: - Do not include automatic purchasing, ordering, or restocking. - Do not include computer vision or object-recognition cameras. - Do not imply that the physical cabinet automatically identifies quantity from RFID alone. - The design must be feasible to construct and test with affordable materials and components.
