The prompt

Modify the supplied 3D CAD model rather than redesigning the entire component. The existing model is already dimensionally suitable for the helmet mounting interface, so PRESERVE ALL EXISTING REAR, INTERNAL, SIDE AND MOUNTING GEOMETRY. The primary modification is to redesign the FRONT/TOP surface to provide a completely flat engraving area. REQUIREMENTS: 1. PRESERVE FIT Do not change: - Overall mounting interface - Rear mounting geometry - Internal recesses - Mounting clearances - Side profile - Lower retaining/locating feature - Existing attachment geometry The finished modified part must retain the same helmet fit as the supplied model. 2. FLAT ENGRAVING SURFACE Replace the existing curved/irregular upper/front surface with a flat rectangular engraving panel. The engraving panel should be: - Completely planar - Parallel to the primary mounting plane - Suitable for laser engraving - Free from raised ribs or curved surfaces - Thick enough to prevent breakthrough during engraving Target flat engraving area: approximately 45–50 mm wide approximately 25–30 mm high Use the maximum practical flat area available without interfering with the existing mounting geometry. 3. ENGRAVING PANEL Create a slightly raised flat panel on the front. Panel thickness: approximately 2.5–3 mm Panel perimeter: rounded corners, approximately 2–3 mm radius. The panel should have a clean, uninterrupted flat surface. Do not add decorative texture to the engraving surface. 4. TRANSITION Blend the flat engraving panel into the existing body using smooth fillets. Do not create abrupt steps that interfere with engraving. Target transition radius: approximately 2–3 mm. 5. STRUCTURAL STRENGTH Maintain the existing structural ribs and frame. Do not reduce the minimum wall thickness below 3 mm. The engraving panel must be structurally connected to the existing frame. 6. LASER ENGRAVING The surface is intended for engraving with a 40 W diode laser. The engraving surface must therefore be: - Flat - Consistent in height - Free of curvature - Free of raised geometry - Large enough for text, numbers, logos or unit markings 7. PARAMETRIC CONTROL Create editable parameters for: engraving_panel_width engraving_panel_height engraving_panel_thickness engraving_panel_corner_radius engraving_panel_offset transition_fillet_radius Default values: engraving_panel_width = 48 mm engraving_panel_height = 28 mm engraving_panel_thickness = 3 mm engraving_panel_corner_radius = 3 mm transition_fillet_radius = 2.5 mm 8. FINAL OUTPUT Return: - Parametric CAD model - STEP - STL Ensure the STL is watertight and contains one solid printable body. IMPORTANT: The supplied MakerWorld model is the dimensional authority for the mounting/helmet interface. DO NOT recreate or estimate the mounting interface from photographs. Only modify the external engraving surface.
