The prompt

Design a handheld mechanical tool for dispensing and cutting adhesive tape one-handed. No electronics, no batteries, no motors — fully mechanical. The problem: applying tape normally needs two hands — one to hold what's being taped, one to handle the tape itself. People end up biting it with their teeth or bracing the roll against something just to free a hand. This tool removes that need. How it works: The tape roll sits in an open cradle built into the body, exposed along roughly half its circumference rather than fully enclosed — this keeps the body slim instead of wrapping bulky housing around the whole roll. The roll is held by a flexible snap-fit lip molded into the cradle itself: press a fresh roll in until it clicks past the lip, pull to pop it back out when empty. No door, no hinge, no latch. The tip is shaped so pressing it down and dragging it along a surface burnishes the tape into place in the same motion — no separate pressing step. One trigger pull does the cut in two stages: it clamps the tape firmly on both sides of the cut line first, then a blade shears between the two clamped points. Nothing has to be pulled taut or torn. After the cut, the mechanism holds a fresh length of tape forward at the tip, ready for next time — nothing to dig for. Design direction: industrial, minimalist, aggressive — reads as serious professional equipment, not a soft consumer gadget. Compact, not bulky — the exposed half of the roll should read as an intentional part of the tool's silhouette, not a bolted-on afterthought. Invent the shape, proportions, materials, and color entirely yourself. so basically in a nutshell the product is like a tape gun with a trigger and when i press the triger it cuts the tape and it puls the rest so the user can continue pulling. design it realistically for a product with the manufacturing cost 3-7$ so no complicated parts and a lot of parts. just clever engineering and smart so it can function and look really good with little manufacturing cost. be smart
