The prompt
Refine the existing camera rig using the supplied chassis and camera STEP files. The CLOSED side of the chassis is the FRONT. Preserve the crescent-style design, but make it sleek, compact, strong and free of geometry errors. CAMERA LAYOUT - Use FOUR cameras: front, port, starboard and rear. Assume the fourth faces directly aft. - FOV is now 105°, NOT 120°. Treat this as horizontal FOV provisionally. - Port and starboard must each overlap 35% of their FOV with the front camera: 36.75° overlap, giving yaw angles of 0° front, ±68.25° sides and 180° rear. - Place all lens centres at the same height with equal pitch and roll. Mirror the side-camera positions. - Keep every view clear of other cameras, canopy, supports, chassis and cables. Check from the actual lens positions, including vertical clearance. - Show overlap and remaining blind sectors; do not assume continuous 360° coverage. STRUCTURE AND ATTACHMENT - Position camera decks ON TOP of the crescent, with strong, filleted connections fused into a valid printed solid. No buried decks, disconnected pieces or accidental intersections. - Move chassis attachment bolts away from the crescent’s visible surfaces. Use accessible split clamps or concealed mounting lugs underneath/behind the bridge. - Clamp onto the existing railing without drilling. Provide resistance to sliding and rotation, load-spreading hardware and tool access. CANOPY AND INSERTS - Add a sleek removable rain/spray canopy covering ALL four cameras without obstructing their views. - Include drainage slopes and drip edges; avoid water traps. - Use solid, reinforced canopy pillars with brass HEAT-SET INSERT bores, not captive-nut pockets. - Size bores for the chosen inserts, with adequate surrounding material, insertion depth, screw clearance and heat-setting tool access. Keep unspecified insert dimensions editable. PRINTING AND FINISH - Material: PLA, 100% infill. Use substantial sections, generous root fillets, short load paths and suitable print orientation. Do not rely on infill alone for strength. - Maintain consistent curves, chamfers and symmetrical details. Integrate supports neatly; avoid bulky blocks and unnecessary holes. - Preserve camera, connector and fastener access. VALIDATION - Fix the cable/wire guard interference with the circular chassis beam; provide real clearance, smooth cable routing and strain relief. - Resolve all unintended collisions involving new parts. Check fasteners, insert pockets, minimum wall thickness, assembly access and printable watertight solids. - Do not modify supplied reference parts to hide interference. Report pre-existing reference-model issues separately. - Provide updated editable CAD, STEP and printable files, hardware list, exploded view and a top-down FOV diagram. Report unresolved checks honestly; physical PLA fit/load testing remains necessary.
